Reduce Anxiety by Stepping Out of Your Thinking Mind and into Your Feeling Body

One way to reduce anxiety is to get out of our own way. Sometimes we need to get out of our thinking minds and into our feeling bodies. Stop thinking for a few minutes and just breathe. Wake up your body and soul.

We live in a world of perpetual motion and with that comes unavoidable chaos. Much of the chaos is caused by overthinking in our own busy minds. Most of us are multi-tasking and can admit that we cannot possibly be doing more than one thing at a time with 100 percent accuracy. We squeeze more into a day than we should and say yes to more than we really want to. But why? Partially because we do not want to disappoint people. Partially because being busy has become a status symbol. And, partially and I would argue most accurately, because if we slow down, we would be forced to sit with our emotions, which for most people is terribly uncomfortable.

Take a moment and just be. Observe the space around you, listen, and feel. Try with your eyes open and then again with your eyes closed. Get in touch with your senses. Tune into the present moment. Try scanning your body to see where you may be holding tension. Then breathe into those areas and invite your body to release that tension on each exhale.

Good health comes when we have a peaceful, calm mind and soul, and when we are able to laugh and to love. We cannot do those things when we are worried about the future or upset by the past. We cannot do those things when we are constantly worried about what others think of us or when our minds are preoccupied with negative thoughts. When we take a few minutes to step out of our thinking minds and into our feeling bodies, we take our power back. We create a calm safe place.

When you feel anxiety creeping in and your body becoming tense and rigid, practice the pause and breathe. Come back into the present moment and into your feeling body. You are in control of your life. If you do not like the way something is going change directions. Add or delete characters and edit your life as many times as you need until you feel you have it right for yourself. You deserve to live the life you love.

Love & Light,
